Tracking how much time you spend learning — and what you spend it on — is one of the simplest things you can do to improve your results. In Refold's experience with clients, tracking effort is directly correlated with success.
Why Track
- Accountability: It's harder to skip a day when you're looking at a tracker
- Awareness: You discover where your time actually goes (vs. where you think it goes)
- Progress visibility: Hours accumulate slowly day by day, but tracking makes the total visible
- Balance checking: Are you spending enough time on interactive immersion? Too much on vocab study? Tracking reveals imbalances.
- Motivation: Seeing consistent effort over weeks and months is deeply motivating
What to Track
At minimum, track the number of minutes you spend learning each day. Better yet, tag your time by activity type (priming, interactive, freeflow, output) so you can check whether your balance matches the recommendations for your current phase.
The Refold App has built-in tracking. You can also use a simple spreadsheet, a different habit tracking app, or even a paper tally. The tool doesn't matter — consistency matters. The Refold App
Tips
- Don't let tracking become a source of stress. A rough estimate is better than nothing.
- Aim for an 80%+ "hit rate" (days where you hit your goal) rather than a perfect streak. Habit Health
- Review your tracking weekly to spot trends and adjust.
